Syria, Tukey, US, so-called safe zone

An official at the Syrian Foreign Ministry called the US-Turkey agreement, a clear violation of Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity and a gross violation of the principles of international law and the UN Charter.

Iran Press/ Middle East: An official in Syrian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Damascus firmly rejects Turkey-US agreement on establishing the so-called 'safe zone' which constitutes blatant aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and a flagrant violation of the principles of the international law and the UN Charter.

"This agreement has very clearly exposed the US-Turkish partnership in the aggression against Syria which serves the interest of the Israeli entity and the Turkish expansionist ambitions and it unequivocally exposed the misleading and evasiveness which govern the policies of the Turkish regime," the source who didn't want to be named added.

"Other Syrian sides including the Kurdish citizens who have been misled, should reconsider their calculations and to stand by the side of all the Syrians," he continued.

The official concluded by saying that Syria calls on the international community and the UN to condemn the US-Turkish flagrant aggression.

Yesterday, Turkey claimed an agreement with the US on establishing a safe zone in northern Syria.

The Turkish Defense Ministry claims Ankara and Washington have agreed to establish a joint operations center in Turkey to coordinate and manage the so-called (safe zone) in northern Syria. 207/217
