Damascus (IP) - The Syrian President told the Iranian foreign minister that Iran's membership in BRICS has proven that the world is changing and the country is on the right track.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad on August 31, 2023.

On the second day of his official visit to Syria, and during the talk, Amir-Abdollahian stated that Iran and Syria are following up on the implementation of the agreements between the two countries which were inked during Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Damascus.

Iran's foreign minister also emphasized that the government, nation, and army of Syria won a global terrorist war and now Syria is in its best condition we are happy that today the region and the world realize Syria's sovereignty, although its enemies are striving to impose sanctions and economic pressure Syrians.

Hossein Amir-Abdollaian further added that Iran was and still stands beside Syria in the tough days.

Iran's Foreign Minister highlighted the need for all parties to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, adding: that Iran and Syria both will counter terrorism.

Referring to Iran- audi Arabia ties, he said: The ties development would be beneficial for both sides and even the entire region.

He also expressed satisfaction with the resumption of Syria's presence and activity in the Arab League and the strengthening of Syrian-Arab relations.

Congratulating Iran's joining BRICS, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for his part, stressed that Iran's membership in BRICS has proven that the world is changing and you are on the right track.

Bashar al-Assad considered the US's strategy in the region to achieve its interests, and create tension, crisis, and insecurity among regional countries and nations, especially Shia and Sunni.

He added: that Iran's initiative to strengthen relations with the regional Arab countries is considered a super-strategic action.

It should be said that during the meeting, the political process and developments in Syria, Astana, the relations between Syria and the Arab League,  developments in Palestine,  and some other regional issues were discussed. 

Withdrawal of Turkish troops, Syria's condition for Damascus-Ankara ties

The president of Syria emphasized the definite withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syria.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Thursday.

Both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, regional issues, Syrian refugees, and the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syria.

Congratulating Tehran on joining the BRICS group, the President of Syria termed the relations between Iran and the Arab countries as "the reason for the stability and prosperity of the region."

Referring to his talks with the Syrian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir-Abdollahian said that he has exchanged opinions on the implementation of the agreements between the two countries during the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Damascus.

Pointing to the victory of Syria over the terrorists, Amir-Abdollahian said that Syria is now in its best condition and the region and the world have realized the reality and strength of Syria.

The Iranian diplomat also said that the enemies of Syria are trying to pursue their political goals towards Syria by imposing sanctions and economic pressure on the Syrian government and people.

Iran's foreign minister left Syria for Lebanon after holding talks with high-ranking Syrian officials.
