Iran Press news agency should present a fair and accurate reporting and narrative of news and events in Iran and the wider Middle East, this being the key to its success as an international news agency, the Managing Director of Iran Press emphasized on Tuesday.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at the official inauguration ceremony of the news agency on Tuesday, the Managing Director of Iran Press, Abbas Mohammadnejad said: "Unfortunately much of the reporting by Western news agencies is biased and subjective reporting, particularly when it comes to the Middle East. They decide which part of the world should be subject to a news blackout, and which parts of the world should be the focus of news and analysis."

Turning to the Middle East as a case in point, Mohammadnejad said: "The Middle East has been portrayed by Western media as a region of conflict and instability. However, the truth is that Middle East is a stable and peaceful place traditionally, and has never been a place of conflict."

The Managing Director of Iran Press International News Agency noted: "What is not reported by Western media is that conflict and instability is a direct result of the military presence of major world powers in this region. Iran Press should challenge this kind of monopoly and show to the world that the Middle East is not a region of conflict. The agency should tell the world that it is the world powers that are responsible for chaos in this region. It should be said that even terrorism was brought by Western countries to this region, and numerous Western politicians have admitted that fact, when they spar and squabble among themselves."

The Managing Director of Iran Press went on to say: "We don't need to accomplish anything huge or spectacular, we just need honest reporting and telling the other side of the story, we should just tell the truth at it really is. This kind of news broadcasting not only improves the agency's reputation but also establishes the status of Iran Press News Agency within international broadcasting as a reliable and accurate disseminator of news."

Mohammadnejad added: "Iran Press News Agency tells the real and objective stories of the country, and it shows that we believe in Iran's policy and goals and we are not afraid to tell the world about some inconsistencies or difficulties at home. The Islamic Republic is a true democracy, we are a democratic country, and we do reflect our domestic problems to a world audience. The wise Iranian people stand beside the political system and do their jobs even in the worst situation."

Managing Director of Iran Press International News Agency noted further: "We also set up Iran Press when the country was under sanctions and they imposed financial pressure against us. But I believe that with wise, committed and highly-skilled manpower that the agency has, we can break the media monopoly which is forced down from north to south unfairly."

Iran Press, the first Iranian and Middle Eastern video news agency was officially opened on Tuesday 16 April 2019, with the presence of the Head of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, senior government officials and the media representatives. 101/211/201
