Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the country will not limit itself to a specific region or a specific block in foreign relations.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at his weekly press conference on Monday, Nasser Kanaani expressed hope for better conditions for the Islamic nation and human society, noting: "We left behind the International Quds Day more passionately and magnificently than ever, in a situation where the Zionist regime is shakier and more unstable than ever in the shadow of dense internal crises and external problems. The enthusiastic presence of the supporters of the Palestinian nation not only in Iran but in all over the world also showed that Imam Khomeini's initiative to name Quds Day was a wise and insightful act, and the issue of Palestine actually became a global issue in the public opinion of the world."

The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated: "We are on the verge of more promising developments than in the past in relation to the Palestinian issue, and we hope that the set of these global efforts will lead to the liberation of Palestine."

Referring to the Day of the Palestinian Prisoners, he said: "We wish for the freedom of the heroic Palestinian prisoners who are on the path of jihad and struggle to liberate their land from the clutches of the Zionist regime."

In response to a question about recent developments, including the improvement of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia as well as related issues, without the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and Europe's distance from the US, Kanaani added: "As Iran's 13th administration proposed from the beginning, the JCPOA is just one of the issues related to Iran's foreign policy and not all issues of foreign policy. The administration announced that it will not tie its foreign relations with the world to the JCPOA issue; it was also repeatedly emphasized that the government will not tie the economy and people's livelihood to the JCPOA."

He noted: "The JCPOA was one of the issues of foreign policy and Iran, based on the belief in the principle of diplomacy, adhered to the negotiation table to resolve disputes and problems and participated responsibly in the negotiation process. Iran did not make the development of foreign relations in various fields subject to the JCPOA process and its progress and suspension."

Kanaani said: "Iran is a country with countless capacities. International conditions have changed and we are witnessing a change in the balance of power in the world's political and security arrangements. We no longer have a subject called a unipolar world. The US is not considered as a superpower and the era of the US as a superpower has been terminated. Looking at Iran's national capacities and the balance of power in the region and the international system, the government of Iran tried to use these to realize the national interests and the interests of the Iranian people, and to strengthen regional convergences as an effective approach to secure common interests and as an effective country to play an effective role in the cases of the region."

We will not limit ourselves to a specific region, in foreign relations

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: "We will not limit ourselves to a specific region or a specific block in our foreign relations, and in the process of developing our relations with all countries that are willing to establish friendly relations with Iran based on the principle of mutual respect and common interests, Iran will continue its efforts in this direction."

About the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi's trip to Tehran and the agreement reached, he said: "Grossi's trip to Tehran took place in March. In the framework of the joint statement that was announced and published, technical talks will be held. In the framework of the statement and agreement made between the parties, technical delegations were exchanged, and representatives of the IAEA traveled to Iran and held technical talks, and these talks continue along the agreed routes. This is a technical path, and if this technical path is not affected by political issues and attitudes, we hope that we can continue the path between Iran and the Agency and take positive steps towards solving the remaining technical issues between Iran and the international body."

The spokesman of Iran's Foreign Ministry highlighted: "The path of talks and technical negotiations continues and we hope that the IAEA is committed to the technical path, and we see that the agency will do its best to stay away from political influences and pressures, and we will witness the resolution of problems in the path of technical negotiations. The progress of this process can have positive effects on the agreement process regarding the JCPOA."

Iran's policy toward Afghanistan neither based on double standards nor contradiction

In response to a question about the Samarkand meeting regarding Afghanistan and Iran's relations with the ruling body of the interim caretaker government of Afghanistan, Kanani said: "The role of the destructive and occupying policy of the United States in the past 20 years in Afghanistan should not be neglected. Iran cannot be indifferent to the irresponsible and uncoordinated withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan which played another destructive role in the formation of a completely disordered and chaotic process in an important and complex country like Afghanistan and wait for developments and reactions in which Iran does not have an effective role."

He stated: "In this connection, in the Samarkand meeting, in the form of the meeting and speech of the foreign minister and the meeting of the foreign minister with the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, it was clearly emphasized that Iran is against banning the education of women and girls and their employment and is ready to help create the right conditions for the education of students."

Kanani stressed: "We have a principled and clear policy in relation to Afghanistan, as has been stated many times in Iran's official positions, and Iran's policy in relation to Afghanistan follows clear components. In connection with Afghanistan, it is important for us to support peace and stability in this country, to oppose the re-appearance of foreign actors under various pretexts and to use various tools, including terrorism, and opposition to foreign intervention in this country are among other bases of Iran's behavior in relation to Afghanistan. It is the problem of Afghanistan and the necessity of forming an inclusive government with the participation of all ethnic groups and an effective fight against terrorism and the production and smuggling of drugs and social issues and serious opposition to banning women from studying in schools and universities and preventing the role and employment of women in social and official and administrative activities."

He said: "We are pursuing many issues simultaneously in our policy regarding Afghanistan, which is neither considered ambiguous nor contradictory. Iran's policy in this regard is wise, both for the interests of the people of Afghanistan and for Iran's security and Iran's basic interests in relation to Afghanistan's issues."

The spokesman regarding the intentions of the Zionists in Azerbaijan noted: "Iran and Azerbaijan have enemies and the Zionist regime is one of the enemies of the two countries. Due to the fact that this regime has defined its national security, and survival strategy in creating and fueling instability and insecurity in the region and the Islamic world, this regime's approach is not only related to Iran-Azerbaijan relations but also related to the whole relationship. The behavior of this regime is accompanied by an attempt to create division and instability and fuel differences. Iran's emphasis is to focus on good neighborliness and relations with friendly relations and mutual respect and focus on common interests. With the understanding of these concerns that some people benefit from the differences between the two countries, Iran tried in the diplomatic process with diplomatic initiatives in the tensions that recently have occurred in the relations between the two countries and two stated must overcome these tensions and used a political and diplomatic approach to manage relations. Fortunately, we have seen relative success in this process. The three rounds of telephone conversations between the foreign ministers was a positive development that led us to a common approach to overcome the existing situation and tension."
