Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi has noted that the US itself doesn't believe in freedom of speech and internet freedom.

Iran Press/Iran news: Condemning the US sanction on Minister of Information and Communications Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, Foreign Ministry spokesman said, "Everyone is aware that the US government does not respect others' principles of democratic values, transparency and human rights, including internet freedom."

He added, "The government's records in exerting pressure on companies and social network managers, including Twitter, to block access to dissenting voices indicates that the government's approach to the free Internet is politically motivated," Iran Press reported.

The US Treasury Department has put Azari Jahromi on its list of sanctions under the pretext of what it calls 'censorship and denial of access to the internet'.

According to a statement by the US Treasury Department, under the new sanction, any of the Iranian minister's property would be blocked under US jurisdiction.

In response to US sanctions against him, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi wrote on Twitter that he is not the only member of the club of sanctioned persons in US President Donald Trump's fairytales. 101/211/216
