According to a state official, a gunman opened fire in a hospital in Concord, New Hampshire, on Friday afternoon, killing a Department of Safety security officer before a state trooper killed him.

The shooting occurred entirely in the lobby of the hospital, according to New Hampshire State Police Director Col. Mark Hall.

The suspect shot one person, and a responding state trooper assigned to the hospital shot and killed the suspect, Hall said.

Police said a 63-year-old security officer died after being shot by a gunman who walked into the New Hampshire Hospital in Concord on Friday afternoon.

Bradley Haas, of Franklin, a New Hampshire Department of Safety security officer, was shot in the line of duty while working security at the hospital’s front lobby entrance, the Attorney General's Office said.

First responders rushed to the New Hampshire Hospital off Clinton Street in the state capital city at 3:38 p.m. 219
