Iran Press/ Europe: Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the government were under pressure in recent weeks after two mass shootings in the national capital of Belgrade.
The snap elections would mean voters will head to the polls for the third time in four years.
Thousands were protesting on the streets, demanding Vucic’s resignation.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić ordered the dissolution of the country’s parliament on Wednesday and announced a snap general election scheduled to take place on Dec. 17.
The move comes a day after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited Belgrade and urged both Serbia and Kosovo to bury their differences and find a way to normalize future relations if they wanted to be considered as serious contenders for EU membership. 219
