Iran Press/ Iran news: Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, the former commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) who traveled to this country on January 3, 2020, at the official invitation of the Iraqi authorities, along with Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, the former commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) or (Al-Hashd al-Shaabi) and eight other people in the US terrorist attack, were martyred near Baghdad airport.
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian wrote on his Instagram on Wednesday about the holding of the seventh meeting of the leaders of the guarantors of the Astana process in Tehran and the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad to Iran in the past two days: "The process of negotiations for regional cooperation, both in security and political issues in economic matters, is positive and associated with a bright perspective."

Iran's FM stated: "After the meetings of the last two days and the successful meeting of the Astana process, it is hoped that the political solution will become the first solution in regional crises."
The seventh meeting of the guarantor countries of the Astana process was held on Tuesday evening, hosted by Tehran and attended by the presidents of Iran, Türkiye, and Russia.
The first round of Astana talks started with the initiative of Iran and Russia and with the support of Turkey in January 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan, to resolve the conflicts in Syria and end the war, displacement, and destruction in the country.
