Stressing that even pilotless drones had systems to relay warnings and other communications to their operators thousands of kilometers away in the United States, Hajizadeh said: "the People who were directing the drone kept on getting nearer and the aircraft made no change to its path, so we were obliged to shoot it down."

Hajizadeh continued: "The US RQ-4A spy drone flew from the UAE's 'Zafreh' Base near Abu Dhabi, and continued to move, switching off the active systems and equipment which represent the plane."

"The incident is indicative of American disregard for international regulations," Iranian commander said.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps shot down a US spy drone, identified as RQ-4 Global Hawk on Thursday morning.

While Washington claims that its aircraft was shot down above international waters, but Hajizadeh stressed that the order was given only after the aircraft had entered Iranian airspace.
