The speaker of Iran’s parliament, Ali Larijani, said US withdrawal from the 2015 multilateral nuclear agreement showed that US cannot be trusted.

Commenting on U.S. president, Donald Trump, Larijani said:  “The American nation has been saddled with an egotistical and amateurish politician.  Aren’t such idiotic actions shameful for a country with a claim on global management. Even America's allies are trying to stop him from making that decision , and they are trying to control him?”

“Trump is overjoyed that he is plundering some short-sighted regional countries for the price of ignoring their wicked actions in the region,” he said.

Larijani also questioned Trump's dismantling of Barack Obama's achievement , and Trump's treatment of his predecessor.  Larijani asked:  "Is it truly a dignified way for Trump to spend all his efforts on destroying everything the previous president of the US has done?"

He went on to add, “while Trump’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal has shattered America's credibility, and exacerbated the world’s distrust of United States, , the Iranian nation has proven that it will first choose dialogue, and always opts for a political way to solve a dispute.”

Larijani said it is the United States itself which has endangered  international security by possessing a large deadly arsenal of nuclear bombs and warheads, which the U.S. continually upgrades."

Stressing that ‘force’ works better on Trump, Larijani said “in this situation, Iran has no obligation not to go back to the previous position [in its nuclear program]. With a national consensus, we will give the US and Zionists a response that they will regret.”

Larijani said during the few weeks that Iran stays committed to the JCPOA while the US has pulled out, “Europe must prove that it is capable of throwing its weight behind settling our issues.

Ali Larijani made the remarks during the open session of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) on Wednesday morning,  following Donald Trump’s announcement on Tuesday afternoon that Washington would pull out of the nuclear deal and reimpose sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Iranian lawmakers have denounced US withdrawal from the 2015 multilateral nuclear agreement, introducing a motion that calls for "proportional and reciprocal" action by the government.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said Tehran will stay in the JCPOA with other signatories, stressing that Iran has always complied with its commitments to the JCPOA, while the US has never complied with its obligations and commitments.

European leaders decried Trump's decision to withdraw from the deal, which had lifted sanctions against Iran in return for curbs on its nuclear programme.  European leaders  called on Washington not to take steps that would prevent other countries from implementing the JCPOA.
