Iran Press/ Asia: On the last day of his visit to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, Iranian deputy foreign minister for political affairs Ali Bagheri met with the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov.
Ali Bagheri noted that the development of relations with Uzbekistan, especially in the field of transportation, is a priority for the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding: "We will do our best to exploit Iran's existing opportunities and capacities to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan in various sectors."
The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance and position of Iran and Uzbekistan and the role of the two countries in the transit of goods between China and Europe.
Iran's Political Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also met with Ruslan Mirzayev, Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tashkent.
Senior Iranian diplomat stated: "At a time when US unilateralism is unable to establish peace in the world, the only way is multilateralism, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has proven its efficiency in the field of countering terrorism."
"Ruslan Mirzayev" considered the three ominous phenomena of terrorism, extremism, and separatism to be the greatest threat to the world, adding: "The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is the only organization that is operationally fighting terrorism."
During the seventh round of political consultations between Iran and Uzbekistan in Tashkent, Bagheri Kani said: "Iran and Uzbekistan are the two largest countries in the region, and correspondingly, they have an important task in establishing peace and security in the region."
Alisher Kadyrov, the deputy speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, while pointing to the historical and cultural roots of the two countries, emphasized the will of the presidents of Iran and Uzbekistan to expand relations. He pointed out the influential role of the assemblies in consolidating relations.
