He said: "The US has gone from sabotage and assassinations to waging an economic war, terrorism, and medical terror amidst covid19 against Iranians. This even "exceeds what would be permissible on the battlefield."

Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman  Seyyed Abbas Mousavi on Sunday 29 Sunday, described the 8 countries' letter to the UN secretary-general to lift anti-Iran sanctions as a unique measure.

Russia, China, Syria, Cuba, Nicaragua, North Korea, Venezuela, and Iran have recently issued a joint letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the lifting of unilateral US sanctions against Iran that have hampered efforts to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman  Seyyed Abbas Mousavi stressed on Saturday that the world must come to its own senses and prevent unilateralism and violation of international law because during the recent years the Americans dared to imposed their domestic laws and cruel sanctions on other countries.

In May 2018, US President Donald Trump pulled the US out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), ‎signed between Iran and the P5+1 in July 2015, and reimposed Washington’s unilateral sanctions on ‎Tehran. The sanctions have hindered, among many other things, the delivery of international humanitarian ‎aid, drugs, and medical equipment to Iran, particularly, now that the country is fighting against the ‎coronavirus. ‎
