Tehran (IP) - Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Switzerland have discussed ways of combating the coronavirus.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis, in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, discussed the latest developments of the coronavirus outbreak in the world, Iran's actions and ways to fight the virus in collaboration with others.

The Foreign Ministers of Iran also had a telephone conversation with his Norwegian counterpart Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide, discussing the two countries' joint efforts to combat the coronavirus.

On Tuesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi announced Zarif's further consultations with some European Foreign Ministers on working together to tackle the coronavirus, and referred to consultation with the European Commission to exploit its potential in the field.

The coronavirus outbreak began in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and appears to have been originated from non-domesticated animals. Chinese officials now admit that the virus probably spread in Wuhan in November or even earlier.

More than 3,100 people have died and over 93,000 have been infected worldwide. The vast majority of cases are in China.
