Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi on Tuesday explained all of the measures taken by the Foreign Ministry to minimize the negative outcomes of the COVID-19 spread.

Iran PressIran news: According to Mousavi after it was admitted that COVID-19 has been confirmed in Iran, the briefing sessions with the foreign ambassadors residing in Iran was considered as the top of Ministry's agenda with the representatives of international organizations including World Health Organization(WHO) as well as Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education in attendance.

Mousavi added that in order to meet the needs and demands of Iran' s Ministry of Health and Medical Education toward other countries and international bodies, Iran's Ministry of foreign affairs has presented the coherent lists of needs that seem necessary for prevention and treatment and control of COVID-19 virus to the United Nations and the related international bodies, Iran Press reported.

Iran's top diplomat highlighted that World Health Organization has provided Iran with effective relief and there have been also some shipments sent to Iran by some of the countries, especially from China, Turkey, and Austria.

According to Mousavi, aid by three countries of Germany, Britain, and France, has also arrived in Iran on Tuesday.

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, while praising the humanitarian assistance of some countries, called the effective fight against the outbreak of the Coronavirus subject to effective international cooperation.

Mousavi also referred to US unilateral sanctions against Iran, saying that the conditions resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus in Iran have increasingly revealed the negative effects of US unlawful sanctions on the Iranian people, and especially vulnerable groups, to the international community, and in particular to European countries.

Coronavirus spread in a few cities in Iran. It started on February 19, 2020, when the Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education reported that a number of citizens had been infected with the Coronavirus in Qom province.

The Coronavirus first emerged in China late last year and is now spreading in Europe, the Americas and across the Middle East, sparking fears of a global pandemic.
