Export Guarantee Fund of Iran (EGFI) became a permanent member of the short-term committee of Berne Union known as The International Union of Credit & Investment Insurers for the first time by winning the majority of votes of the Union members.

Iran PressIran News: Berne Union consists of 85 members, including government export credit Agencies (ECAs), private credit insurers and multilateral institutions from 73 countries representing all aspects of the credit insurance industry internationally.

4 specialized committees are in secretariat of Berne Union in London, namely short-term committee, medium and long-term committee, export credit agency committee and Prague club committee, developing export credit agencies.

Berne union is the leading global Association for the export credit and investment insurance industry, which was established in 1934 with the aim of supporting the global acceptance of the correct principles of Export Credit Insurance (ECI) and foreign investment.

The secretariat of the Berne Union announced in June 2023 that with the majority of the members' votes, the Export Guarantee Fund of Iran was found eligible to be a member of the short-term committee of the union and became a permanent member of the committee.

According to the announcement of the Berne Union, Iran's Export Guarantee Fund gained the membership due to its significant growth of short-term insurance coverage in support of the Iranian goods and services, extensive negotiations and the presence of its senior officials in periodic and specialized meetings.

Iran's Export Guarantee Fund has actively participated in the Prague Club committee so far and now it has strengthened its position as a leading export credit institution in the Middle East region by being a permanent member of 2 of the committees.

Membership has also provided an opportunity for Iran to exchange knowledge and use the credit experiences of the aforementioned committees.
