Geneva (IP) - Iran's Permanent Representative in the Geneva-based UN Office stressed that the West must not be allowed to normalize the desecration of the Quran.

Iran PressEurope: The leader of the Danish party 'Stram Kurs' (Hard Line) Rasmus Paludan, burned a copy of the Holy Quran near Turkiye's Embassy in Stockholm, an action that faces extensive protests from Muslim countries.

The Swedish party leader's desecration of the Quran faced strong condemnation from Muslims and Islamic countries including the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan, and Jordan.

The Islamic countries' permanent representatives to the Geneva-based UN Office held a meeting on Tuesday to examine the ways to confront such desecrations in some European countries.

Iran's envoy Ali Bahraini said in the meeting that the representatives must be the voice of the Islamic countries' people in the world.

Bahraini stressed that Islamic countries must not allow the desecration of the Quran, Islamophobia, and hatemongering to be normalized in Western countries under the pretext of the freedom of speech and opinion.

He criticized the inaction of the Western countries' authorities and the international bodies emphasizing that their silence was considered their satisfaction of the blasphemies and the encouragement of Islamophobia.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives came to a series of joint measures against such West-backed desecrations.
