Tehran (IP) - Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed the most important issues of bilateral and regional relations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in a telephone conversation.

Iran PressIran News: Congratulating the new year to his Azerbaijani counterpart, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir- Abdollahian hoped that the two countries will see the development of cooperation in various political and economic sectors in the new year.

Referring to Iran's readiness to increase transit and transportation cooperation between the two countries, Amir-Abdollahian said: "We must increase cooperation in the transportation, transit, and trade sectors."

Emphasizing the Islamic Republic's opposition to the presence of foreigners in the region, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized: "By adopting positive approaches, regional problems can be solved by regional countries."

The formation of working groups on media cooperation and the investigation of water scarcity and pollution of the Aras River were among the other issues raised in the conversation.

Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, also emphasized his country's interest in holding a joint economic commission at the beginning of the new year and promoting economic and trade relations between the two countries.
