Rome (IP) - On the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, thousands of people demonstrated in Rome, the capital of Italy, once again condemning physical and sexual violence against women in this country.

Iran PressIran News: Protestors on Saturday evening demanded an end to this situation while chanting against men's acts of violence against women in Italy. Meanwhile, the phenomenon of femicide and violence against women is expanding in Italy.

One of the protestors told the Iran Press correspondent in Rome: "The situation of women in Italy is not good. We as women continue to be harassed and sexually assaulted and insulted, and we are also victims. We are afraid of being alone on the street and we are not safe at home either. But in any case, we will try to restore our rights."

Meanwhile, according to the latest report by the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), every year in this country, more than 75% of women are physically and sexually abused by their husbands or ex-partners.
