Moscow (IP) – Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance said that the capacities of the energy, transit, and trade sectors are excellent opportunities to expand the cooperation of the Caspian Sea countries.

Iran PressEurope: In an interview with Iran Press in Moscow, Ehsan Khandouzi stated that these capacities had not been used well due to some obstacles.

He added that with the start of a unique interaction between the five coastal countries of the Caspian Sea in the last year, the trade between these states has increased by 30%.

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran said that the target set for 2025 is much higher than the 30% increase in trade between the coastal countries of the Caspian Sea.

He said that to achieve this goal, all five countries should be able to use the platform and opportunities of the transit and commercial sector of the Caspian Sea, as well as the capacity for joint investment in the field of transportation and energy.

Khandouzi said that by connecting the countries along the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf, the Oman Sea, and the Indian Ocean, the transit route from East and Southeast Asia to Europe would pass through the Caspian Sea in a unique way, which provides an outstanding opportunity to expand cooperation.
