Moscow (IP) - The Iranian Minister of Finance says the country will engage in trade with the Caspian Sea littoral states through their national currencies.

Iran PressEurope: Ehsan Khandouzi, along with a delegation headed by the Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, arrived in Moscow to participate in the Caspian Sea Economic Forum. 

At the official invitation of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber arrived in Moscow on Thursday to attend the second edition of the Caspian Economic Forum.

On Thursday, Ehsan Khandouzi, Iranian Finance Minister in Moscow told IRIB Channel 1 that the increase in transit of goods through the North-South Corridor and trade with national currencies were among the critical issues discussed by the Caspian Sea littoral states.

Khandouzi also touched on establishing a customs green route in the region, the grounds for which were prepared and operationalized to some extent. 

The second Caspian Economic Forum was held in Moscow on Wednesday and Thursday (October 5th and 6th) in the presence of Mohammad Mokhber, the first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the prime ministers of the four coastal states of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

The first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran also met and conferred with some of the prime ministers of the countries participating in the second Caspian Economic Forum, including the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The event's first edition was held in 2019 with the participation of Iran, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan in the Avazeh tourist region in Turkmenistan.
