Iran (IP) - The Dome Soltanieh in Zanjan, northwest of Iran, has been registered as the largest historical dome in Iran and the highest brick one in the world.

Iran PressIran News: The dome is 48 meters high with an internal diameter of 25 meters which was built on the order of Soltan Mohammad Khodabandeh from 703 to 713 AH (back to 14th century). It was build based on Seljuk architectural style.

Coated with turquoise tails in mosaic form, the dome is known as the famous one in the world after the domes of Italy's Santa Maria Church and Hagia Sophia Mosque, respectively. 

The complex has an octagonal plan, eight minarets and three parts named as the Gonbad Khaneh (dome), the Torbat Khanaeh (crypt) and the Sardabeh (cellar).

The Dome of Soltanieh was registered in 2005 in UNESCO world heritage as the seventh national monument of Iran. 

The historical site hosts the foreign and domestic tourists during the year.
