Verona(IP)- Iran's Pahlevani wrestlers participated in the 20th edition of the international festival of traditional street games and sports called "Tocatì in Verona with a powerful show.

Iran PressEurope: On Saturday and Sunday, Iran's Pahlevani wrestling and archetypal sports team performed three and two rounds of traditional sports (Zurkhaneh sports) and wrestling shows at the Romano Theater ( Teatro Romano)  in Verona, respectively.

Tocatì is a festival that combines games, watching folk music performances from far-off countries, sampling their food and rediscovering old traditional games. The name of this festival, Tocatì, translates as “it's your turn” in the Veneto dialect.

The Iranian Pahlevani wrestlers appeared on the stage with masterful movements of holding the shaft or meel, throwing the shaft (Meel), stone, turning, and wrestling, along with the beat and song of the Morshed or guru, or sport conductor.

Meel or shaft is the name of one of the equipment that people do sport with in Zurkhaneh. It is a special sort of dumbbell made of wood in various weights used by the traditional sportsmen to strengthen and build up their shoulders and arms.

Kabbadeh or weighty bow is a bow-like equipment which is used in Zurkhaneh for strengthening the upper half of the body's muscles. Moreover, there is a stone clock and push-up board used by the sportsmen for working on their chest muscles

This ceremony, which was held with the participation of Iran's Cultural attaché in Italy and Iran's Zurkhaneh sports and Pahlevani Wrestling Federation, and also was well received by the people of Verona, Italy and a large number of foreign tourists.
