Belgrade (IP) - Rhaman Amouzad in 65kg from Iran managed to defeat Yianni Diakomihalis (USA) and secure a gold medal at Belgrade world wrestling championship.

Iran PressEurope: The Iranian National Free Style Wrestling team participating in the UWW World Championship in Serbia has managed to win two gold, three silver and one bronze medals in the first four weights of the event.

2019 Asian champion Reza Atri in 61kg couldn't beat 2016 Olympic silver medalist Rei Higuchi (JPN) and won a silver medal.

Atri scored two takedowns in the final 40 seconds of the semifinals to knock off Narankhuu Narmandakh (MGL) 5-3.

Rhaman Amouzad in 65kg from Iran faced Yianni Diakomihalis (USA) in the finals, where he could defeat the American 13-8 and win a gold medal.

In the semifinals, Rahman Amouzad (IRI) went on a takedown spree in the second period to pull away from Olympic silver medalist Haji Aliyev (AZE) for a 9-2 win, while Yianni Diakomihalis (USA) needed just :53 to overpower Sebastian Rivera (PUR) in a 10-0 technical fall.

Also, Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian in 97kg will fight for bronze against Givi Matcharashvili (GEO).

Previously, in 86kg, the Iranian Wrestling star, Hassan Yazdani, ceased to silver in challenging David Taylor from USA and Mohammad Nokhodi in 79kg earned the silver by accepting a defeat against Jordan Boroughs. 

In the 125kg weight category, Amihossein Zare and in 74kg, Younes Emami secured a bronze medal and in 92 kg, Kamran Ghasempour dashed a valuable gold medal against his strong opponent from the US.
