The heavyweight Iranian world champion accepted defeat against an opponent from Turkey and failed to qualify for the final match of the 2022 World Freestyle Wrestling Championship in Belgrade, Serbia.

Iran PressEurope: In 125 kg, Amir Hossein Zare faced Taha Akgül, who won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and lost in the last seconds of the match by missing 2 points.

Akgül, who got a rematch from Zare, to whom he was defeated last year, will face the Mongolian Lkhagvagerel Munkhtur in the final tomorrow evening.

Zare won gold at the U23 World Championships and won silver at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games. Zare was selected as Iran's heavyweight after winning the gold medal at the Poland Open.
