Tehran (IP) – The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy Force unveiled a combat patrol vessel named after Iran's late top general, Martyr Lt Gen Qassem Soleimani, which enjoys the vertical launching system (VLS), an advanced rapid-fire air defense system.

Iran PressIran News: “Martyr Soleimani” combat patrol vessel, “Martyr Rouhi” and “Martyr Dara” missile-launching speedboats joined the IRGC Navy Force on Monday.

An unveiling ceremony of the aforementioned military equipment was held on Monday with the attendance of the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major-General Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Chief-Commander Major-General Hossein Salami, IRGC Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, Governor-General of Hormozgan Province, the Leader’s representative and Friday prayers leader of Bandar Abbas and some other high-ranking state and provincial military officials.

“Martyr Soleimani” combat patrol vessel is equipped with the vertical launching system, an advanced system for holding and firing missiles on mobile naval platforms, such as surface ships and submarines.

Each vertical launch system consists of a number of cells, which can hold one or more missiles ready for firing.

IRGC's new vessel also uses an advanced radar detection hull, which provides the ability to navigate and conduct various operations in faraway waters.

The vessel has high maneuverability power, which is vital in launching various offensive and defensive tactics.

Maritime helicopters can land and take off from the Martyr Soleimani vessel.

The vessel also enjoys indigenous self-protection systems and advanced and modern communications equipment. It is also equipped with the most advanced radar and telecommunications and electronic warfare detection systems.
