Iran Press/ Iran news: Chabahar port in Sistan and Baluchistan province is the only oceanic port in Iran, located on the Makran Sea coast and the Indian Ocean.
Chabahar port is crucial due to its strategic location and the closest access to open waters of the landlocked countries of Central Asia, such as Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.
In 2016, an investment agreement between Iran and India was signed to develop Chabahar. Based on this agreement, India committed to provide part of the infrastructure of Chabahar port.
Javad Sepahi, the deputy governor of Iran's Sistan and Baluchistan, said on the sidelines of welcoming "Sarbananda Sonowal," the Minister of Ports and Shipping of India.

On this one-day trip, the Minister of Shipping of India and the accompanying delegation will participate in the joint meeting of Iran and India in Chabahar and visit Shahid Beheshti port infrastructure and the unloading and loading process.
Sepahi added that visiting the process of building a 100,000-ton silo, the construction project of export bitumen tanks, and the construction process of export methanol tanks are among the other plans of Sarbadana Sonwal during his trip to Chabahar.
