Tehran (IP) - National Journalists' Day was commemorated in Tehran with the presence of the Minister of Culture and Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade at Vahdat Hall.

Iran PressIran News: August 8 has been named  Journalists' Day in Iran after the correspondent of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Mahmoud Saremi, was martyred along with 8 Iranian diplomats by the Taliban in 1998. 

Delivering a speech at the ceremony on Sunday, the minister of industry, mine, and trade, Reza Fatemi-Amin, said that the more accurate the reporters worked, the more effectively they could play role in solving the country's problems. 

Reza Fatemi-Amin said the reporters' work would influence the quality of governance in the country. 

In the ceremony, the reporters who died during the coronavirus pandemic, and the Israeli-assassinated reporter of Al-Jazeera, Shireen Abu Akleh, were commemorated. 

An "Ashurai Photo Gallery" and Taziyeh rituals were held on the sidelines of the ceremony.
