Tehran (IP) – Iran's administration spokesperson says the Energy Minister will go to Afghanistan to follow up on Iran's Hirmand water rights.

Iran PressIran News: Attending his weekly press briefing on Tuesday and in response to a question regarding how far the government's measures to pursue Iran's claim from Afghanistan have reached, Ali Bahadori-Jahromi stated that in the negotiations, the Afghan side acknowledges Iran's right based on the agreement, and the dispute is about the amount of incoming water, as well as some technical problems, which the Islamic Republic is seriously pursuing.

He highlighted that a report on the matter was presented in the cabinet meeting and Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian would soon visit Afghanistan, one of the most important parts of which is to pursue Iran's Hirmand water rights and realize it.

Referring to Iran's water supply from the Aras River, he also pointed out that in the case of Aras River water rights, the same report was presented in the cabinet meeting, and it was also raised in the conversation between the Iranian and Turkish presidents.

He added that the Turkish side has agreed to hold a ministerial-level meeting on the matter and the Iranian administration insists on pursuing the same path.
