Tehran (IP) - The joint meeting of Iranian and Iraqi professors was held in Tehran on Wednesday where cultural and educational issues as well as joint scientific activities of Arbaeen were discussed.

Iran PressIran News: Forty professors from different Iraqi universities arrived in Iran at the invitation of the cultural and educational committee of Arbaeen to hold this scientific meeting.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, the Deputy Minister of Science, Gholam-Hossein Kalantari, stated that one of the goals of the Ministry of Science is to enjoy scientific and academic diplomacy with regional and neighboring countries.

Kalantari said one of the basic strategies in deepening scientific diplomacy is to pay attention to common cultural and religious issues; due to its common cultural and ideological background, Iraq is one of the countries on the top of the list in this regard.

Referring to the study of a large number of Iraqi students in Iran, he added that scientific liaison between professors and students of the two countries is increasing.

Kalantari also called Arbaeen a unique event that could deepen the commonalities between Tehran and Baghdad. Currently, more than 50,000 Iraqi students are studying in Iranian universities.
