Tehran (IP) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq discussed developing and expanding bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad, and some matters related to the visit of Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims to the two countries.

Iran PressIran News: In a phone call on Sunday, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein discussed some issues of mutual interest, including pursuing the development and expansion of bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad, as well as some matters related to the visit of Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims were examined.

The two sides stressed the need to follow up on the agreements made during the Iraqi Prime Minister's visit to Tehran regarding developing ties and facilitating the pilgrimage of Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims on religious occasions, especially Arbaeen.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed his gratitude for the assistance and facilities provided for the journey of Iranian pilgrims on the Day of Arafat, as well as the coordination for the visit of Iranian pilgrims on Arbaeen, and appreciated the efforts of the Iraqi side to send Iranian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for Hajj rituals.

The Iraqi foreign minister, for his part, announced his readiness to continue assisting in facilitating the travel of Arfat and Arbaeen pilgrims and the Hajj rituals and emphasized the willingness of the Iraqi government to provide the necessary grounds for the proper holding of the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

Fuad Hussein underlined that the Iraqi government would use its maximum efforts to facilitate the journey of pilgrims and hold the Arbaeen March as glorious as possible.
