Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister and Iraqi Prime Minister met and conferred on bilateral issues in Tehran on Sunday evening.

Iran PressIran news: During the meeting, which was also attended by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein and the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Baghdad, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh, the two sides discussed bilateral and international issues.

 Amirabdollahian and Al-Kadhimi discussed issues of mutual interest and regional developments.

Iran's top diplomat stated that the solution to the region's problems arises from within the region. He also praised Iraq's efforts to strengthen the dialogue initiative and its constructive role in the regional equations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, the Iraqi Prime Minister also emphasized the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the developments in the region, adding that Iraq is serious about developing bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and continues to play a reassuring role in the region.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi arrived in Iran on Sunday afternoon after his visit to Saudi Arabia.

Upon his arrival to Iran, he was welcomed by the Iranian Minister of Energy Mehrabian and then met and held talks with Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi.

During the meeting, President Raeisi pointed to the deep-rooted ties between Iran and Iraq and noted that Iraq is the biggest trade partner for Iran. 219
