Tehran (IP) - Iran's President says the country backs a ceasefire in Yemen which leads to the lifting of the blockade on the Yemeni nation by the Saudi-led coalition.

Iran PressIran news: At the suggestion of the UN, a two-month ceasefire was established in Yemen on April 2, the most important of which was the entry of 18 fuel-carrying ships into the ports of Al-Hudaydah and the permission of two weekly round-trip flights from Sanaa Airport.

In response to a phone call from the Chairman of Yemen's Supreme Political Council Mahdi Al-Mashat on Saturday, Ebrahim Raisi said that the Islamic Republic of Iran supported a ceasefire that would lead to complete peace and the real lifting of the oppressive economic blockade against the Yemeni people.

"Iran is ready to send humanitarian aid, especially COVID-19 vaccine, to the Yemeni people," Raisi to al-Mashat.

Mahdi Al-Mashat for his part thanked the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the oppressed people of Yemen in international arenas and conveying their voice to the world, 

Al-Mashat called for the development of relations and cooperation with Iran. 

Backed by the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, invaded Yemen in March 2015.
