On Saturday, Saeed Khatibzadeh, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, welcomed the agreement reached between the warring parties in Yemen on the proposal made by the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for extending the ceasefire for another two months.
The UN Envoy for Yemen announced on Thursday that the Yemeni ceasefire had been extended for another two months.
Saeed Khatibzadeh, in response to the two-month extension of the ceasefire in Yemen, said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran hopes that in the light of these efforts, we will witness the complete lifting of the siege, the establishment of a lasting ceasefire, and the achievement of a political solution."
Khatibzadeh stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on its strategic vision and moral policies, had always considered the solution to the Yemeni crisis as political and had used all its capacity to promote a just peace based on the realities of Yemen.

The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced on Thursday that the parties involved in the conflict in Yemen had agreed to the terms of the original agreement, extending the ceasefire for another two months.
According to the announcement, the ceasefire has re-entered the implementation phase since Thursday. Grundberg also announced that he would continue his efforts to institutionalize the ceasefire until a lasting political solution was reached.
On April 2, the UN envoy announced the start of a three-month ceasefire in Yemen, halting ground, naval, and air strikes, facilitating the entry of 18 fuel-carrying ships into al- Hudaydah port and authorizing weekly flights from designated destinations to Sanaa airport and vice versa.
Mohammed Abdul Salam, the spokesman for the Yemeni Ansarullah movement and chairman of the Sana'a negotiating team, issued a statement Thursday evening regarding the extension of the ceasefire in Yemen: "After lengthy discussions with the United Nations and other parties and the sending of a message from the United Nations to the President of the [Political] Supreme Council [Yemen], it was possible to accept the extension of the ceasefire on humanitarian grounds."
Saudi Arabia and Turkey also welcomed the extension of the ceasefire in Yemen on Friday and announced their support for UN efforts to end the crisis.
