Vienna (IP) - Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations based in Vienna criticized the anti-Iranian resolution approved by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iran PressEurope: The resolution proposed by the United States and the European Troika (the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund) against Iran was adopted on Wednesday, June 8, despite strong opposition from China and Russia at the IAEA Board of Governors' quarterly meeting.

In a scathing tweet on Friday, Mikhail Ulyanov wrote: " Have you got the latest news from #Iran? Do you understand now why Russia voted against the stupid Western resolution of the #IAEA BoG on Iran yesterday?"

"Regrettably our Western counterparts demonstrate total lack of understanding of where we are," Ulyanov added.

Then he addressed the European side, saying: "You are the last person whose view can be trusted or taken into account. This is a matter of fact. Why do you think that it may be different."

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) then issued a statement announcing the shutdown of the On-Line Enrichment Monitor (OLEM) system and flow meter in Iran as a part of the response to the 'stupid' resolution.

Earlier, Ulyanov said that the anti-Iranian resolution in the IAEA's Board of Governors would not help improve cooperation between Tehran and the IAEA, stressing that the move which was to complete the Vienna talks has been also useless.

The resolution was approved by 30 Governors who voted in favor, 2 (Russia and China) against, and 3 (India, Libya, and Pakistan) abstained.
