The proposed US-European troika resolution against Iran was adopted despite strong opposition from China and Russia at the International Atomic Energy Agency's quarterly meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.

Iran PressEurope: The proposed US-European troika resolution against Iran was adopted Wednesday at a quarterly meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors, despite strong opposition from China and Russia.

Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's ambassador and permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, in his tweet stated that 30 of the 35 members of the Board of Governors had voted in favor of the resolution. India, Pakistan and Libya abstained, while Russia and China voted against it.

The Russian diplomat added: "Countries that represent more than half of the world's population did not support this resolution."

This is the second anti-Iranian resolution issued under pressure by Israeli by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors after the implementation of the JCPOA. On June 19, 2020, a similar resolution was proposed and approved by three European member states of the JCPOA.

Western countries, led by the United States and the Zionist regime, have in recent years accused Iran of deviation in its legal peaceful nuclear program.

Iran has strongly denied such claims and has emphasized that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

In addition, International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors have visited Iran's nuclear facilities several times; But they have never found any evidence that the country's peaceful nuclear energy program is deviating from its legal peaceful purposes.

China and Russia have previously stated their strong opposition to the anti-Iran resolution. Earlier in the day, Ulyanov tweeted that the reason for the resolution being presented by Western participants in the Vienna talks is unclear and highly questionable. 219
