Tehran (IP) - With a majority of votes, Iraq's parliament ratified a law on May 26, 2022, to criminalize any move for the normalization of ties with the Israeli regime.

Iran PressCommentary: Under the law, the draft of which was submitted to the Iraqi parliament by the Sadr Faction led by Muqtada Sadr, the normalization of ties with the Israeli regime in any aspect of political, security, economic, technical, cultural, sports, or scientific was announced crime.

The law encompasses all Iraqis inside and outside the country, including government officials and military and civilian personnel, Iraqi media, social networks, institutions and civil society organizations, as well as foreign nationals residing in Iraq, private and foreign companies, and foreign investors working in the country.

According to this law, even non-Iraqis who are present in this country under any title have no right to cooperate with the Israeli regime inside Iraq.

Violation of the law is punishable by death sentence, which is indicative of the Iraqi parliament's determination to prevent breaking the taboo of normalizing relations with the Israeli regime.

In support of the occupying regime of Israel, the United States seeks to threaten and entice a number of Arab countries to normalize relations with the regime by presenting various plans and agreements.

Iraq, decisive not normalize ties with Israel: Parliament

The Iraqi parliament's action is a serious message to some Arab countries that for the sake of gaining some political and economic support, they seek to turn their backs on the demands of the Muslim nations to deal with the destructive measures of the Israeli regime in the region.

As with the reason behind the ratification of such a law by the Iraqi parliament, the prelude to the law enumerates the preservation of the national, Islamic, and humanitarian principles in Iraq and the preservation of unity among the Iraqi people.

In recent months, some Iraqi figures and groups have taken creepy actions to normalize relations with Israel, which led to differences and disputes within Iraq.

Since the issue of Palestine is a core concern of the Islamic world to support the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty against the Israeli regime backed by the West, the passage of the law by the Iraqi parliament is an example of such a defense of Palestine.

Still, another point to mention is that the law was passed on the eve of the Israeli Flag Day ceremony in Jerusalem Al-Quds, the capital of Palestine.

The Zionist settlers are scheduled to hold a racist flag rally on Sunday, May 29, while the Palestinians oppose the march.

Finally, although UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, and Morocco, as Arab-Islamic countries, have normalized ties with the Israeli regime, the Iraqi parliament's ratification of the anti-Israeli law showed that the act of the Arab allies of the regime has serious opponents in the Arab world and that Israel is still suffering from isolation among the important Arab countries of the region.
