Tehran (IP) - The Pakistani ambassador to Tehran and the embassy's deputy head of mission appreciated the Leader of the Islamic Revolution's position on Kashmir.

Iran PressIran news: "Ambassador Rahim Hayat Qureshi thanked the Iranian leadership for their continuous support to Kashmiris in their struggle for the right of self-determination," Pakistan's Embassy to Iran tweeted.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has always expressed his support for the people of Kashmir in his speeches.

On March 6, 2020, he warned the government of India against the continued massacre of Muslims, saying that the current pogrom going on against Muslim people in the South Asian country will lead to the isolation of New Delhi in the Islamic world.

"The hearts of Muslims all over the world are grieving over the massacre of Muslims in India," Ayatollah Khamenei remarked. "The govt. of India should confront extremist Hindus & their parties & stop the massacre of Muslims to prevent India's isolation from the world of Islam," he added.

A week later, on March 15, 2020, Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Hosseini, praised Iran's stance on the Kashmir issue.

Kashmir has been divided between India and Pakistan since their partition and independence from Britain in 1947. The disputed region is claimed in full by both sides, fighting three wars over it.

Also, talking to Iran Press on Kashmir solidarity day on Sunday, the Pakistani embassy's deputy head of mission Ali Anser Zaidi thanked the Leader of the Islamic Revolution because he has always voiced support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination.

He added: “The tragic incidents that took place recently in Kashmir had saddened and deeply affected the heart of every human.”

“Extrajudicial killings of innocent Kashmiris continue with impunity, hardly a day passes without any news of an operation by Indian forces and since January, at least 24 Kashmiris have been martyred,” he added.

“Pakistan praises the resilience of the Kashmiri people who continue to stand firmly in their peaceful struggle for their legitimate right to self-determination as pledged to them by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions,” concluded Ali Anser Zaidi.
