Mashhad (IP) - General Manager of Khorasan Railway, northeast of Iran, says exports from Sarakhs Railway Border, north of Khorasan Razavi Province to Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries increased by 73% in the last ten months compared to the same period last year.

Iran PressIran News: Mostafa Nasiri, General Manager of Khorasan Railway, added: "925 thousand tons of cargo with more than 14 thousand and 700 wagons have been loaded until January 2022 and exported to Central Asian countries through Sarakhs railway border.

Nasiri said that the Khorasan Railway loading was 858 thousand tons of goods, which has gained the first rank of the country's rail exports.

The General Manager of Khorasan Railway stated that the main export of goods from the Sarakhs Border is cement with a 32% share. Uzbekistan, with a 41% share, and Turkmenistan, with 37%, are among the most important export destinations of the country.

Nasiri added: "Due to the benefits of rail transportation, including reducing fuel consumption and increasing safety, exports through the rail network, has increased the revenue of production units and also attracted new markets in Central Asian countries."

1,400 km, equivalent to 14% of the total capacity of 10,000 km of Iran's railway network, is related to Khorasan Razavi province.
