Iran's trade with Islamic countries in the first 5 months of this year (March 20 to July 20) was 34.5 million tons of goods worth 17.1 billion dollars, Iran's customs spokesman said.

Iran PressIran news: "Iranian traders exported 27.3 million tons of goods worth $ 9.1 billion to 50 Islamic countries in the first five months of this year," said Ruhollah Latifi, a spokesman for Iran's customs.

He added: "This amount shows a growth of 20% in terms of weight and 40% in terms of value compared to the same period of the last year."

Latifi went on to say, "22.7 million tons of Iranian goods worth $ 6.5 billion were exported to 46 Islamic countries in the same period last year."

"The highest exports were to Iraq with $ 3.1 billion, UAE with $ 1.9 billion, Turkey with $ 1.1 billion, and Afghanistan with $ 855 million. These 4 Islamic countries have always been among the top 5 Iranian export countries in recent years," he added.

According to Mehr News Agency, in the first five months of last year, Iran imported 4.8 million tons of goods worth $ 5.2 billion from Islamic countries. In the first five months of this year, imports from these countries were 7.2 million tons worth $ 8 billion, with a 50 percent increase in terms of weight and 54 percent in terms of value.
