FM says:

Tehran (IP): The Iranian Foreign Minister says without paying attention to the issue of refugees and sanctions imposed on Syria, the crisis in this country cannot be directed in the right direction.

Iran PressIran News: United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Otto Pedersen, who is in Tehran to discuss the developments in Syria, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Sunday.

During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister hailed the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for contributing to the Syrian National Dialogue and promoting peace and stability in Syria.

Amir-Abdollahian also stressed the sincere efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran for his success in pursuing the process of peace and stability in Syria.

Emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran's view on a political solution to the Syrian crisis, Amir-Abdollahian noted that the United Nations had been part of the pursuit of a political solution in Syria since the beginning of the country's developments.

The top Iranian diplomat further blamed the illegal presence of American forces in Syria and the Israeli air attacks on the country for disrupting the political solution process in Syria.

Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the need for more attention of the international community and the United Nations to the destructive role of Americans and Israelis in Syria.

The Iranian FM highlighted that the crisis in Syria could not be solved without paying attention to the issue of refugees and lifting sanctions against Syria.

The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Syria, Geir Pedersen, for his part described the situation in Syria as stable, adding that in the current situation, neither side is talking about regime change in the country.

The UN high-ranking diplomat stressed the preservation of national sovereignty and the political establishment of Syria.
