New York (IP): During a meeting with the EU foreign policy chief, the Iranian foreign minister said that the new Iranian administration would resume the Vienna talks.

Iran Press/America: The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell On Tuesday on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York and discussed and exchanged views on various issues, including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and Afghanistan developments.

Emphasizing that Iran is seeking a practical result in the talks, the Iranian Foreign Minister said: "Iran will not waste time, nor will it accept the unconstructive behavior of the United States, nor will it delay the country with its empty promises."

Amir- Abdollahian emphasized: The behavior and policies of the Biden Administration concerning Iran and the JCPOA have been unconstructive so far and continue Trump's policies.

Iran's Foreign Minister praised Borrell's efforts to follow the negotiation process, saying: "If the Americans think that they will succeed by putting pressure on Iran, they are one hundred percent wrong; the Iranian people have shown a strong response to pressure and threats."

Amir- Abdollahian emphasized: "All parties should know that the JCPOA should have tangible results for Iran and in practice, we should see the lifting of illegal sanctions; it is unacceptable that the United States, on the one hand, sometimes speaks positively and, on the other hand, imposes new sanctions on Iran."

The Iranian Foreign Minister added: "If others return to their commitments, and they are verified, we are also ready to stop our remedial measures."

Saying that the defeat of the JCPOA and the negotiations would not be good for either side, Borrell highlighted: "The European Union has always been critical of Trump's destructive policies and actions in withdrawing from the JCPOA. Still, the decision of the new US administration has created a new chapter in maintaining and reviving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action."
