Tehran (IP) - Emphasizing that Iran can become a food authority in the West- and Southwest-Asia, the proposed Minister of Agriculture Jihad says, unfortunately, despite its unique capacities, Iran is not a regional food authority today, and it must return to its position in Southwest Asia.

Iran PressIran News: Javad Sadati-Nejad added that food security had improved today, and countries were seeking to become food authorities; therefore, there is a competition to become food authorities in the world.

The proposed Minister said: "11.6% of GDP and 19% of the country's employment is from agriculture. Also, 20% of non-oil exports come from this area."

Sadati-Nejad stressed that an agricultural observatory would be set up at the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

The sessions of Iran's Parliament for the vote of confidence to the President Raisi's cabinet began on Saturday with his speech defending his administration's plans and suggested cabinet.

By the speech of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Parliament, the procedure kicked off and will continue to the end of the vote of confidence.
