Tehran (IP) - Head of Iran's Food and Drug Administration says COVID vaccination has accelerated since a month ago.

Iran PressIran news: In an interview with Iran Press, Mohammad-Reza Shanesaz said: "It is planned to receive another 20 million doses in September, and in November a total of 80 million doses either homemade or imported vaccines are to be supplied to vaccinate up to 161 million Iranians".

He expressed hope that fast nationwide vaccination could decrease the daily COVID death toll, stressing that implementing all hygienic protocols is mandatory since the disease is surging even with vaccination in many countries.

He stated that since 2020, Iran was trying to import vaccines, but the severe sanctions had made the money transfer very difficult.

"Many companies that were about to cooperate with us had problems, we were asked not to make this collaboration public, because the companies supplying the raw materials may create problems for them," he added.
