Tehran (IP) - The CEO of the Railway Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced a 29% increase in the transit of Iranian railways in the past year.

Iran PressIran News: Saeed Rasouli, CEO of the Railway Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said at the 36th Conference of CEOs of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD): "Iran's rail transit grew by 29% last year and Iran's railway exports increased by 5% during this period."

Rasouli also announced the readiness of the Iranian Railways to participate more seriously in the OSJD Commission for Freight Transportation, in the OSJD Academy, and as a member of the OSJD Standing Working Group on Coding.

The 36th Conference of Managers of OSJD is being held by video conference from April 19 to 23.

The Organization for Cooperation of Railways was established as the equivalent of the International Union of Railways (UIC) to create and improve the coordination of international rail transport. In this regard, the transports between Europe and Asia has helped develop cooperation.

Between railway companies and with other international organizations. The members of this organization created an international transport law. 

This organization has 29 active members, 8 supervisory members, and 40 institutions and companies as affiliated members, and the Railway of the Islamic Republic of Iran is considered as one of the active members of the organization.
