Why it matters:
Iran’s Parliament emphasizes the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, a moral and geopolitical emergency. Lawmakers called for diplomatic pressure and direct aid delivery to break the blockade. It is also a demand for Iran’s embassies worldwide to become hubs of advocacy and resistance.
The big picture:
The Palestinian death toll in Gaza has passed 60,000. The world's leading authority on food crises said the “worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out” in the territory of over 2 million people as starvation deaths rise. And the United Nations said far too little food and other aid were entering the enclave, while most of the recent days' dead were gunned down seeking aid.
What they're saying:
Iranian MPs in a statement:
"Israel has failed to break Gaza’s resistance and now wages war through starvation."
"So-called European peace plans are deceptive."
"Iran is ready to support food aid deliveries to Gaza through parliamentary and field efforts."
