Pakistani Foreign Minister arrives in Tehran

Tehran (IP) - Pakistani Foreign Minister arrived in Tehran this evening to meet with senior Iranian officials.

Iran PressIran News: Seyed Rasool Mousavi, Director General of West Asia at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on his page on Twitter: "Meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is among the Pakistani Foreign Minister's visit to Iran."

The senior diplomat continued: "Tomorrow, at the same time, the third border between the two countries will be opened in the Pishin-Mand."

Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh announced the Pakistani foreign minister's visit to Tehran at a weekly news conference.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi will also visit the city of Mashhad, according to Pakistan's embassy statement.

During the delegation-level talks, the two countries' two foreign ministers would review bilateral relations to deepen cooperation in diverse fields further.

The two sides will discuss the regional security situation, including the latest developments in the Afghan Peace Process and the Jammu & Kashmir dispute.

They will also deliberate on strengthening regional cooperation under the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) umbrella. Foreign Minister Qureshi’s visit to Iran is part of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Zarif visited Pakistan in November 2020 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Qureshi, while the two Foreign Ministers met on 30 March 2021 on the sidelines of the 9th session of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Ministerial Conference in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Foreign Minister Qureshi last visited Iran in January 2020.
