Baghdad (IP) - The Secretary-General of Iraqi Asaib Ahl al-Haq announced that the Israeli regime was behind the strikes on the US embassy and military bases in Iraq.

Iran PressMiddle East: In an interview with Aletejah TV, Qais al-Khazali stated that it was the Israeli regime that managed the attacks on the US bases and embassy in Iraq, and the executors of the plans are their Iraqi mercenaries.

Al-Khazali noted that several Iraqi security figures also played a mediating role in managing the operations against US bases in the country.

"The Zionist regime benefited from the situation, so the regime managed the attack on the American bases and accused the resistance groups of bringing the US President Joe Biden administration into conflict," he added.

Yet, the Iraqi resistance figure also stressed that the presence of the occupiers in Iraq legitimizes the resistance against them, so the right to attack the foreign forces' bases was preserved for the Iraqi resistance forces.

Two weeks ago, on Monday, 22 February, three rockets struck Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone without causing any casualties, Iraq's army said in a statement.

It was the third attack to target the American presence in Iraq in a week.
