Tehran(IP): The Vice President for Science and Technology said that after oil and gas, the food industry was the biggest.

Iran PressIran news: Delivering speech in the inauguration ceremony of the second phase of the growth center of the National Nutrition and Food Technology Research Institute on Saturday morning in Tehran, Sorena Sattari said,  "We are dependent on others in this field which has the least number of science-based companies."

Sattari added there were lots of potentials in food industry and "we need to establish companies based on indigenous design and system,not just following others."

"We can not manage our county with the US outlook and thought since their approach fits their country and needs. We need indigenized systems", he concluded.

Another speaker of this ceremony, the president of Shahid Beheshti university Alireza Zali called this growth center a link between the food industry and private sections.

Referring to the importance of food industry in the country’s economy, Zali said that improving the quality and quantity of food industry could be beneficial specially during the period of sanctions and Coronavirus outbreak.

President of Shahid beheshti University emphasised on the role of food industry in creating job opportunities and said that youth and creative generation must be employed in this growth center.

Iran has more potentials in food industry which need to be improved, since it is predicted that cereals and rice will be more expensive next year all over the world due to due to Covid19 out break.

The inauguration ceremony of the second phase of growth center of National Nutrition and Food Technology Research institute was held on Saturday morning in Tehran, with the presence of Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari and president of Shahid beheshti university, Alireza Zali. They also paid a visit to the third phase of this center too.
