Iran, Azerbaijan urge boosting ties in all fields

Tehran (IP) - During his meeting on Monday night, the Chief of Staff of the President of Iran and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan stressed the need to develop and deepen relations between the two countries in all fields, especially economic and trade relations.

Iran PressIran News: According to Iran press on Monday night, during a meeting between Mahmoud Vaezi and Shahin Mostafayev, which took place after the 14th Iran-Azerbaijan Economic Summit in Tehran, the Chief of the Iranian presidential staff expressed satisfaction with the good progress of the joint economic commission.

Tehran-Baku relations have been developing in all fields since 2013, and 13 meetings between the two presidents show the will of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan to expand relations.

 Announcing his readiness to host the President of Azerbaijan to Tehran, Vaezi said: "The exchange of more than 100 diplomatic missions at the ministerial levels of the two countries and the signing of more than 40 cooperation documents are great steps we have witnessed in relations between the two countries."

"Economic and trade relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, despite the spread of the coronavirus and the restrictions imposed, are increasing with the removal of obstacles," added Iran’s senior official referring to the talks between the leaders of the three countries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia after the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Welcoming the new conditions in the region, Vaezi said: "The new conditions can create grounds for multilateral cooperation between the countries."

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while appreciating the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and supporting the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, named the Islamic Republic of Iran as a friendly and neighboring country and called for the development and deepening of relations between the two countries and stressed economic and trade cooperation.

Referring to the signing of a peace agreement with Armenia at a joint meeting of the two countries with Russia, the Azerbaijani official said: "The provisions of this agreement are very close to the proposal made by Iran to end the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and can serve the interests of both parties."

Rejecting the rumors that Iran's interests were ignored with the construction of the Azerbaijan-Nakhichevan railway, Mostafayev stressed: "By reviving this railway, the interests of six countries including  Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Turkey, and Georgia will be served and these countries can connect with each other through this railway and expand their trade cooperation."
