Baghaei stated that Iran will make the best possible decision regarding the recent IAEA Board of Governors resolution—one that safeguards the country’s national interests—and that details will be announced once finalized. He criticized the United States and three European countries for exerting pressure on the agency, emphasizing that Iran had reached an understanding with the IAEA after three rounds of talks, but that Western interference disrupted the process.
Baghaei also condemned Israel’s continued crimes in Gaza and Lebanon, citing reports of the use of banned weapons, including cluster bombs. He warned that unhindered Israeli aggression could have consequences extending beyond the West Asia region.
Regarding relations with Saudi Arabia, Baghaei clarified that a recent letter from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was a routine exchange related to the Hajj pilgrimage, expressing gratitude for last year’s services and hope for continued cooperation. He dismissed speculation about mediation, emphasizing that the main obstacle is Washington’s insincere approach to negotiations, which relies on dictation rather than genuine diplomacy.
Baghaei also highlighted Iran’s efforts to ease tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, rejected U.S. involvement in Sudan’s crisis as hypocritical given Washington’s past role in fueling instability, and criticized American arms shipments to Taiwan as provocative actions against China. He reaffirmed Iran’s support for the “One China” principle, as recognized by UN resolutions.
On sanctions, Baghaei noted that U.S. measures against Iran date back to the 1950s, following the nationalization of the oil industry. While acknowledging the harm these sanctions cause, he emphasized that they cannot weaken Iran’s determination to defend its dignity and national interests.
He further confirmed that the seizure of an Iranian oil tanker was carried out under a judicial order, announced that Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will participate in the annual OPCW conference in The Hague, and stated that Iran has formally raised the issue of chemical weapons used during the Iran-Iraq war through Germany’s embassy.
Finally, Baghaei cited reports linking U.S. political figures to Jeffrey Epstein as evidence of domestic factors influencing Washington’s foreign policy, and said Israel is driving the U.S. into prolonged conflicts. He concluded that America bears responsibility as a partner in Israeli military aggression.
“There is no ceasefire in Gaza, and within 45 days nearly 1,300 to 1,400 innocent people have been killed or injured,” The spokesperson said, adding that confirmed figures show at least 350 people have been martyred in Gaza over the past month and a half.
“There is no ceasefire. The restrictions you mentioned were imposed about three months ago, and it was clear they were merely symbolic,” he noted.
Baghaei further stressed that Germany and other arms suppliers to the Israeli regime are fully aware that these weapons are being used to attack countries in the region, including Lebanon and Yemen, where Israel has carried out military aggression.
